Whether performing or teaching, music has always been an integral part of the Davis family. Involvement in school music organizations, seeking consistent mentorship from the best professionals in the music industry, and pursuing a music degree at the university level has led each family member to a productive and rewarding career in music.
Tracy Davis is the owner/operator of the Small Town Strings Studio and specializes in Suzuki instruction for violin, viola, cello, and double bass. She received her Bachelor of Music in Education degree from North Texas State University (now UNT) where she was a student of Adolfo Odnoposoff. Tracy has 29 years of classroom experience teaching strings and general music in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Midlothian, Forney, and Rockwall school districts. In 2008, Tracy was hired by the Rockwall ISD to start the district’s now flourishing orchestra program.
Emily Davis Burak earned her Bachelor’s of Music degree in performance from the University of North Texas in 2014. As a high school student, she was a four-year member of the TMEA All-State Orchestra. She has studied with Nicolette Solomon, Ron Neal, and Julia Bushkova. While maintaining a studio of private violin students, Emily has also performed with professional artists including Stevie Wonder, Andrea Bocelli, Michael Buble, Johnny Mathis, the Eagles and has also performed with the Ft. Worth Symphony Orchestra on numerous occasions. Emily is married to Nick Burak, a musician, luthier, and part-owner of Wayne Burak Music.
Alyson Davis, a cello performance major at the Meadows School of Music, Southern Methodist University, has studied with Christopher Adkins and Jennifer Humpreys and is currently a student of Andres Diaz. Alyson was a member of the TMEA All-State Orchestra in 2016 and 2017. She also participated in band playing French horn and was a member of the TMEA All Region Band each year. Alyson performed at the UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest each year, receiving superior ratings on both cello and French horn in addition to being named outstanding soloist on both instruments.
